Dear South Sudanese,

Please accept my sincerest condolences for our innocent brothers and sisters who had loss their lives to this heartless war about power struggle. No words from me that will supply the love, the hope, the comfort and the strength to those of you who had lost a family member (s) or friends. However, I am deeply saddened by this heartless power struggle fight that left many innocent Southern dead.

It is hard and always heartbreaking to see people fighting for minor things and killing innocent people just because of leadership. Leadership is something that people shouldn’t fight for, it is something that can be achieve through peaceful dialogue. We, at Deng Opportunities Foundation are deeply shocked and saddened by the many lives lost in the country already as a result of such heartless fight for power. On behalf of Deng Opportunities Foundation, board, supporters and staff, I would like to convey our sincerest condolences to the families, friends and South Sudanese people wherever they are for the lost of their loved ones.

This tragic is a heartbreaking one; power struggle is something that should be solved through dialogue not through bullet. I call up on all the citizens of South Sudan all over the world to unite and find the best way to deal with such tragic using the dialogue that create the sense of humanity, circle of trust, love, peace and dignity in all the tribes that make up South Sudan. This is a difficult time for all South Sudanese people and the world but it is time to find strength that remain in us and call for reconciliation instead eye for an eye. As late Dr. Garang said “An eye for eye can make all of us blind.” We need to come to the table of trust and avoid revenge.

Let’s take a minute and ask ourselves question. Is this how we can build up this new nation or is there a better way?  This is a question we the South Sudanese need to ask ourselves then come to the table of trust and answer it.  A great nation is only build through peaceful dialogue not bullet.

Once again, I am deeply saddened that South Sudan just lost such a great number in less than three weeks.

With sincere heartfelt condolences,

Peter Garang Deng
